I have become an orphan.
Some years ago I had an opportunity to attend a public gathering where Goenkaji would address the assembled. Sadly I was in that low phase of avoiding Vipassana and meditation altogether (because I was not getting results to my unreasonable expectations) and chose not attend. Now I will forever regret it.
Official Announcement.

Sounds like a good idea to at least consider. Let me check with the other moderators.dagon wrote: David, i know that this may not be the right time or place to ask but ...
Could we have a subforum or a sticky to bring together some of the legacy that he has left?

We are forever grateful . A compassion which was so boundless , that no language will have any words to describe its strength of purity and sincerity of purpose.
Both our children and countless many carried his blessings while in the womb.
Once again i reaffirm the resolve that i had made to our Dhamma Father , that may i never commit the monumental sin of creating a sect out of Dhamma in any of my remainders .
Dhamma so pure , that it has nothing to add , nor nothing to subtract from.
Aniica vata sankhara , upadavya-dhammino .
Upajitva nirujanthi , tesam vupsamo sukho.
May we all be happy and well , and may all the worlds join together in expressing their great great gratitude.

The Path of Dhamma
The path of Dhamma is no picnic . It is a strenuous march steeply up the hill . If all the comrades desert you , Walk alone ! Walk alone ! with all the Thrill !!

And may his disciples here continue to draw inspiration from his dedication and gift of the Dhamma. These gifts will not return to the dhatus.

"He, the Blessed One, is indeed the Noble Lord, the Perfectly Enlightened One;
He is impeccable in conduct and understanding, the Serene One, the Knower of the Worlds;
He trains perfectly those who wish to be trained; he is Teacher of gods and men; he is Awake and Holy. "

"The Dhamma is well-expounded by the Blessed One,
Apparent here and now, timeless, encouraging investigation,
Leading to liberation, to be experienced individually by the wise. "

The world is a poorer place with the loss of this inspiring Teacher.

To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse one's mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas.

One of the reasons I'm in England trying to learn English is because I wanted to go to India and try to meet him. I took this decision in my last and third ten days retreat. I knew he was ill. Today is a sad day.
