Chanting for newborns

Post by Myotai »

Hello everyone,

My wife is due to have our son this week and I was wondering if it would be appropriate to ask for a dedication or chanting to welcome him back (asbitbwere)

I am quite new to the Theravadin tradition so dont want to be pushy.

I do attend the monastery as often as i can but not as often as i would like.

Thanks,

M...

You can download some MP3 files or YouTube videos of the protection discourses.

The Angulimāli Paritta is appropriate for a safe childbirth.

The Metta Sutta for new born babies.

Later, you can take the baby to the monastery. I expect the monks will be glad to chant a blessing for him/her or them if it's twins or triplets :juggling:
