Ajahn Jamnian (Ajahn Jumnien) 2013 U.S. Retreat Update

Post by aflum »

Hi Everyone,

There is still one month to register for the Dhamma retreats with Ajahn Jamnian. Please join us for this rare opportunity to attend a retreat with Ajahn Jamnian (also known as Ajahn Jumnien), a living Buddhist master in the Thai Forest Tradition. Ajahn Jamnian is coming from Thailand, along with a small number of other monastics for this seven-day retreat in the Pacific Northwest. This retreat will take place in Millersylvania State Park near Olympia, Washington from June 17-24, 2013. He will also be in the Los Angeles area for a retreat at in Mt.Baldy from June 11-13, and a free one day Dhamma talk at Ayohya 1455 Indian Hill Blvd. Pomona, CA 91767 on June 10, 2013.

Ajahn Jamnian teaches in a unique style filled with joy, humor, and lightness of heart. Meditation and mindfulness are often thought of as something we set aside time to do outside of our normal busy routines. However, the peace and calmness experienced during and soon after meditation practice often is overcome by life’s experiences: an angry boss, a traffic jam, or a disagreement.

Ajahn Jamnian encourages us to continuously explore the presence of desire and aversion in the mind. He tells us every situation is an opportunity to practice “steering ourselves back to the Middle Path.” A living meditation practice, in which the development of insight pervades every aspect of our life and not just the hours devoted to meditation, is a “life long process of constant observation and continuous investigation.”

Please note, this is not a silent retreat. In order to emphasize the practice of Vipassana (or mindfulness practice) in everyday life, Ajahn Jamnian prefers to lead non-silent retreats. This helps to bring insight, wisdom, joy and peace into our everyday experience, as well as build a dynamic sangha community.

Spots are still available, so for more information on Ajahn Jamnien and to register, please visit our website at: http://www.forestretreat.org or call toll free (877) 394-1928.

Thank you and Blessings,
Alan Flum
