“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

"I don't envision a single thing that, when developed & cultivated, leads to such great benefit as the mind. The mind, when developed & cultivated, leads to great benefit."
"I don't envision a single thing that, when undeveloped & uncultivated, brings about such suffering & stress as the mind. The mind, when undeveloped & uncultivated, brings about suffering & stress."

My practice is simply this: Avoid evil, do good, and purify the mind.

Somtimes I find myself wondering whether jcsuperstar's next life is being kind to him. Metta to him.

We're all wanderers on this Samsaric journey. The most valuable present we bring along with us is the Buddha's teaching. It gives us the strength and wisdom we need along the way.

I don't know him, but from the thread he created about rebirth, this was his input:
If he is in another life keeping the same attitude, he should be alright, i guess!personally i believe in literal rebirth. it's just i don't care that much about it. and i don't think it's a necessity. i feel the non literal moment to moment view of rebirth is far more important to focus on in terms of one's daily practice.
And the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus, saying: "Behold now, bhikkhus, I exhort you: All compounded things are subject to vanish. Strive with earnestness!"
This was the last word of the Tathagata.

He was great, had nearly 2,000 posts here and I don't remember him ever arguing or fighting with anyone here.
