Hello from Montreal

Post by Eliane »

Hello everybody!

I've just moved to Montreal, QC, and I'm looking for a group to practice Shamata. I saw a few places here but didn't find anything about this practice yet, maybe some of you could help me.

I met my teacher, Lama Padma Samten (who was named Lama by Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche) in 1999, in Brazil and I've been his student since. During my last retreat there (Brazil) I met Alan Wallace (http://www.sbinstitute.com/alan" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), who talked about the importance of Shamata and conducted a few practices.

I would like to go on with this practice but it's always easier to practice in a group  than alone :candle: .

Edit: I speak French also (not perfect but enough)

Welcome Eliane! Please be sure to visit our sister site http://www.dharmawheel.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for a Mayayana and Vajrayana perspective on shamata.

:anjali:
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.
