Hello from Quebec

Post by nicholas17 »

Hi every one ! :)

My name's Nicholas and I live in Montreal city in the province of Quebec, next to Ontario. I am seventeen years old.

I am interested in Buddhism about 2 years ago. Wisdom , simplicity, truth, Buddha's teachings .. All of these things interest me very much.
I am a student. My parents don't believe in anything. They are atheist. My grand mother was a christian, she died 3 months ago because of a cancer.

What about why am I interested in Buddhism ? That's because it's just a kind of life lesson .. You learn by experimentations. It's between a scientist approach and a spiritual teaching. That contains the advantages of these two kind of way to perceive the life. first of all, You have to see by yourself if the teachings you're learning is correct. And on the other hand, You have to believe on spirituality and on the dhamma. I also like the fact that there are no miracle promised in the buddhism, You have to do your own efforts and you must practice the more you can do for have results. Meditation will help you and It is necessary to reach your goal.

I wish we'll have nice discussions and a friendly environments for it.

Oh! Yeah ..I am French. So I am sorry if I made any mistakes. My writting level in english is not very good.

Peace to all of you ! :sage:

Bonjour Nicholas and welcome to Dhammawheel!
Don't worry about making mistakes in English.
I hope you find here some inspiration, interesting discussion and some noble companionship.
Kind regards,
Ben

loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

Welcome Aboard
Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Welcome Nicholas!

:anjali:
Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.
