prayers

Post by befriend »

dear buddhists,
i would very much appreciate it if at the end of your meditation you could think positive thoughts for me. i dont know if this will help, but i feel the sangha is my true home. please it can be just thinking my name with some love behind it for like a split second, i feel the devas are real and maybe they will hear your prayers. i have a solid metta practice so i think they like me. i have a condition, that is quite debilitating. thank you very much. befriend

“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”

loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

Sending metta your way!

I know what it is like to have a debilitating condition. Try and remember that all bodies will fall apart eventually; if yours is going a little faster than others, then that's okay. It's okay to be sick! If you have a solid practice as you say, then happiness is going to find you even in the hardest of times.

Good luck brother or sister.
Gain and loss, status and disgrace,
censure and praise, pleasure and pain:
these conditions among human beings are inconstant,
impermanent, subject to change.

Knowing this, the wise person, mindful,
ponders these changing conditions.
Desirable things don’t charm the mind,
undesirable ones bring no resistance.

His welcoming and rebelling are scattered,
gone to their end,
do not exist.

Befriend,

I will include you in my rounds. Sukhi hotu!
To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to cleanse one's mind — this is the teaching of the Buddhas.

As you are, you are to me as I am to me. I hope the best for you, I don't know you, but I love you. You are the epitome of possibility and may all good things that can befall you, befall you. Seriously, we are the same, and I wish the greatest of tranquility to you. I wish I understood or could understand the totality of your circumstances, in spite of the lack of that knowledge, I hope that you can and that you will be freed by that realization of your own. I am ignorant to many things, but to you, as a fellow being, I wish you the best

With love and hope,
Andrew

Khayaṃ virāgaṃ amataṃ paṇītaṃ - yad-ajjhagā Sakyamunī samāhito -
(Craving's) end, dis-passion, deathlessness, excellence - that which the concentrated Sakyan sage attained -
na tena Dhammena samatthi kiñci - idam-pi Dhamme ratanaṃ paṇītaṃ: etena saccena suvatthi hotu!
there is nothing that is equal to that state - this supremely precious thing is in the Dhamma: Through this truth may there be well-being!
Blog, Suttas, Aj Chah, Facebook.

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.
