An American director has used the promotional budget for a Hollywood blockbuster to deliver aid to Typhoon Haiyan victims in the Philippines.
Casey Neistat was given $US25,000 by studio 20th Century Fox to make a promotional short film for Ben Stiller's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
He was contacted by the studio just days after Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest typhoons in history, devastated the Philippines, leaving more than 6,000 people dead.
In a video posted on YouTube, Mr Neistat says the studio wanted to run a campaign under the concept 'live your dreams'.
"This is the actual response I sent to them: 'Here's my concept - give me the budget, I'll go to the Philippines and spend every penny helping people in need'," he said.
Mr Neistat says the studio and the film's producers agreed.
