I read Sharon Salzberg's book on Metta meditation when it came out back in the 1990s. I see she has a number of books on the subject. Is it the case where you've read the first book, then you've read them all or are the others worth reading?
Are there any other high quality books on Metta meditation out there?

In reading the scriptures, there are two kinds of mistakes:
One mistake is to cling to the literal text and miss the inner principles.
The second mistake is to recognize the principles but not apply them to your own mind, so that you waste time and just make them into causes of entanglement.

Liberation is the inevitable fruit of the path and is bound to blossom forth when there is steady and persistent practice. The only requirements for reaching the final goal are two: to start and to continue. If these requirements are met there is no doubt the goal will be attained. This is the Dhamma, the undeviating law.

i have read several of her books and personally, i thought that Lovingkindness: The Revoluationary Art of Happiness was excellent. I sent the book to a friend who has really enjoyed reading the book and using the meditations.

Nyanaponika Thera is a good source, here is one edition of his classic:

Good and evil have no fixed form. It's as easy to turn from doing bad to doing good as it is to flip over the hand from the back to the palm. It's simply up to us to do it. Master Hsuan Hua.

Re: Books on Metta Meditation and the Brahma Viharas?
Here's a very good book for meditation instructions for Brahma Vihara practice through all the 8 Jhanas. What is especially interesting with this is that metta transforms automatically into karuna and the other Brahma Vihara as one goes deep in the Jhanas.

It is written by a student of Bhante Vimalarasmi. The meditation method is excellent. But in the beginning of the book the author makes claims that other methods are wrong, which I think is incorrect to claim. If you look past that and focus on the instruction, it's great!
