Guided body scan meditations that include attention paid to organs, etc?

General discussion of issues related to Theravada Meditation, e.g. meditation postures, developing a regular sitting practice, skillfully relating to difficulties and hindrances, etc.

Guided body scan meditations that include attention paid to organs, etc?

Post by philosopher »

I've recently been exploring body scan meditation as an effective means of calming the mind when it's agitated and refuses to settle. I've tried a couple guided ones to become familiar with different styles and came across the one used in MBSR programs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daU-xneLA0g" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I dislike the voice of the speaker but I like how he draws attention to functions of the organs rather than just parts of the body - for instance, feeling the heart beating and pumping blood. This has a much deeper effect for me than simply playing attention to sensations in the body parts. Does anyone know of any body scans that incorporate this type of attention?

Any other body scan instructions you recommend would also be appreciated. Thank you!
