Sayadaw U Puññananda and Ku Doeh forest MC

Post by Sekha »

Sayadaw U Puññanada is I believe almost totally unknown from westerners, and so far he is rather popular in Malaysia and Taiwan among the Chinese people who are shifting back to Theravada buddhism.

I was told that he mastered the Pa Auk system in two years (which would imply that he his at least a sotapanna), but somehow it didn't work well with the Pa Auk Sayadaw, so he had to go his own way and now he teaches on his own. The thing is, he has the reputation to be a much more talented teacher than the Pa Auk Sayadaw himself (which, knowing just a bit how burmese culture works, would explain the split..).
His facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/upunnananda" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ku Doeh forest meditation center is the monastery of which he has been offered to be the abbot: http://www.facebook.com/kudoeh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There are a few reports of (very talented!) lay people reaching the fourth jhana in no time (just only a few days), and that they started remembering their past lives as well.
