Sadhu, I am astounded at the pace Venerable Analayo just keeps producing work tirelessly
Vayadhammā saṅkhārā appamādena sampādethā — All things decay and disappoint, it is through vigilance that you succeed — Mahāparinibbāna Sutta

Tārakā timiraṃ dīpo māyāvaśyāya budbudaḥ supinaṃ vidyud abhraṃ ca evaṃ draṣṭavya saṃskṛtam — A shooting star, a clouding of the sight, a lamp, An illusion, a drop of dew, a bubble, A dream, a lightning’s flash, a thunder cloud — This is the way one should see the conditioned — Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā

I have seen all things that are done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a chase after wind — Ecclesiastes 1.14

If he doesn't arrange for "freely-given" access, then it's not dhamma, or his efforts are defiled.

I've been reading the book.

It isn't what I hoped for from the impression I gained from the title and the way the book has been promoted.

I was hoping for explicit, specialized advice for coping with illness and death.

I haven't finished the book yet, but so far almost all of the sutta references go back to a sick/dying monk/lay adherent being advised to maintain mindfulness as a means of easing the suffering. What you would be doing anyway studying Buddhism.

I do think the book is worth it for the fresh translation, and a fresh translation from a different source. I also like the comparing of sutta versions between the Nikayas and Agamas. Analayo also has a nice writing style.
