Concept of Aggregates, Spheres, Elements, Truths, Faculties,

Postby Alex123 » Sun Nov 06, 2011 3:58 pm

Hello all,

In Abhidhamma Piṭaka, Puggalapaññattipāḷi, first page, it says that Aggregates, spheres, elements, truths, faculties, and people are concepts.

Cha paññattiyo – khandhapaññatti, āyatanapaññatti, dhātupaññatti, saccapaññatti, indriyapaññatti, puggalapaññattīti.

1) Does this mean that these are concepts (paññatti) from the teaching of Abhidhamma Pitaka?
2) Why is concept of person is put in the same category as concept of aggregates, spheres, elements, truths, faculties?

With best wishes,

Alex

Hello Cooran,

It is first page of Puggalapannatti if anyone has that book, they can read it in English. I have both the book and pali form (from CST 4.0 ).

Here is pali.

1. Cha paññattiyo – khandhapaññatti, āyatanapaññatti, dhātupaññatti, saccapaññatti, indriyapaññatti, puggalapaññattīti.

It is a short passage If you can copy out the Pali, you can give the English translation as well.

"The six designations are -The notion of the aggregates, the notion of the bases, the notion of the elements, the notion of the truths, the notion of the faculties, and the notion of human types" - Puggalapannattipali (with english translation) book that I have.

These are all paññatti .
