Perhaps, his condition will not improve because he has done nothing to rectify the weakness. In order to do that, he will have to go here and there and consult doctors and other people and take some actions. Is his running around wrong ??
While he is running around, he should take the running around as it is.

As he stops running around, he should take the stopping of the running around as it is.

Also, a teacher - Ajahn Brahm used to say: "It's not what you do, it's how you do it". Since you gave the example of an illness, illnesses are often aggravated by one's own attitude towards the being ill.

You might want to read up on Right Effort which is one of the eight thingies which make up the Eightfold Noble Path. I think that right effort has something to do with you query......but I don't know for sure....
