Bodhgaya Blasts Sunday 07 July 2013

Post by Sarnath »

Namaste and all greetings to Buddhists
Sarnath and Bodhgaya have particular significance to all, and especially to Indian "culture", no matter what "faith" you follow among the religions that have birth in India. Today I only heard of the blasts in Bodhgaya, that two monks were injured, and that there were actually a series of nine blasts at the Mahabodhi Temple where also is found the tree underwhich the Buddha meditated.
I have no words to express my contempt and, though Buddhists will criticise me for saying, anger regarding this, which there is no doubt once again the instigators were Muslim fanatics.
It appears there was little damage to the holy site (thank goodness), but what sort of mind would engage in such an attack?
How can Buddhists expect good citizens to simply uphold ahimsa before such monsters? I have been to these holy places, and truly I know what your response will be to me. What is to be done? I know nothing.
In your service.
