Bhikkhu Ñanajivako

Post by Tom »

I'm interested to gather more information on Bhikkhu Ñanajivako. Does anyone on this forum know what monastery he may have lived in?

I'm not sure if he passed away there, but he did spend a number of his final years at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Talmage, California, a small town outside of Ukiah.

I may be mistaken, but I believe when he lived in Sri Lanka he preferred to live in the homes of dayakas. The monasteries in Sri Lanka didn't appeal to him.

Is it known from whom he learned the Dhamma or where he had trained in his early years as a monk?

Given his name I would assume he took ordination from Ven. Vajirañána Mahá Náyaka Thera, his acariya would have been Ven. Nyanatiloka Mahá Thera at the Island Hermitage (Polgasduwa), Dodanduwa.
