now that you mention it, it's starting to make sense to me. I heard Christopher Hitchen made the same joke about Buddhism, and I just couldn't get it. Apparently he confused Hinduism with Buddhism. Or perhaps some other sects of Buddhism aims to be 'one with everything' ?

"Being one with everything" is mostly a mainstream or Mahāyāna Buddhist concept (some sects). It's not Buddhist in the sense that it wasn't taught by the Buddha, but it is Buddhist in the sense that Buddhism is a term which encompasses Theravāda, Vajrayāna and Mahāyāna; therefore making it a Buddhist concept.
