Another report: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-12/n ... mp/6464556

The quake was not as bad as the previous one but adds to the problems the people face.

Actually in the areas around Mt Everest it is a much worse earthquake than the first one owing to closer proximity to the epicentre, and the shallowness of the depth of the new quake. Horrible suffering for those poor people, here's hopeing we've seen the worst of it.
18 years ago I made one of the most important decisions of my life and entered a local Cambodian Buddhist Temple as a temple boy and, for only 3 weeks, an actual Therevada Buddhist monk. I am not a scholar, great meditator, or authority on Buddhism, but Buddhism is something I love from the Bottom of my heart. It has taught me sobriety, morality, peace, and very importantly that my suffering is optional, and doesn't have to run my life. I hope to give back what little I can to the Buddhist community, sincerely former monk John

Just talked to my Nepali friend at the Indian restaurant I go to, His family and father lives at over 4000 metres in the area of Mt Everest, they are Sherpas, this new earthquake hit the area around Mt Everest much worse than the initial one, because it was much closer to the epicentre. This time his father's house and those in his village were destroyed but happily no one was killed. Imagine being homeless in the snow on the side of Mt Everest, not a pretty picture. Send your good wishes, and hope for their speedy recovery, and for all the aid that has been promised to actually reach Nepal.

Better still, also send money via the major aid organisations already helping there.
Nepal earthquake: Death toll from second quake rises as relief efforts spread thin
The death toll from Nepal's second biggest earthquake in less than three weeks has risen to 96, as rescue teams struggle to get aid to some of the most remote terrain on Earth.
Tuesday's deadly 7.3-magnitude quake triggered landslides and brought down buildings weakened by an even larger tremor on April 25 that killed more than 8,000 people and destroyed nearly 500,000 homes.
Nepal's government, which admits to being overwhelmed by the scale of the April 25 disaster, is racing to deliver relief to remote mountainous areas in the east of the country worst hit by the latest quake.

They still need help:
Nepal earthquake: Monsoon season threatens supply of relief as thousands still living without shelter

Aid agencies say urgent help is needed for hundreds of thousands of people still living under tarpaulins in Nepal after last month's deadly earthquake.
Relief agencies fear monsoon rains due to begin in weeks could trigger more landslides, damage villages and cut off roads.
They say they are now worried the rain will cause sickness and disease in communities if people do not have dry places to shelter. ...

One of the problems with our news cycle is that ongoing crises receive no media attention. In the case of natural disasters, the immediate disaster gets the attention but the (at best) slow and laborious process of recovery goes largely unreported.

Thanks Kim! I was wondering how things were going. You are right about ongoing crisis not receiving enough media attention. The next new story is always sought by the media, even when it is relatively less important than an ongoing story.
