right now in my life I have to do some healing meditation because of past difficulties in my system make it impossible to proceed with vipassana. I am wondering If anyone has tried repeating a mantra as a homebase, to come back to once one has started into daydreaming. if I say teapot whistles or something neutral like that all day would I be doing concentration meditation that would lead to a type of trance, jhana, Samadhi? i am hoping repeating a neutral mantra would not cause absorption of any sort because that would be bad for my illness.

Maybe you should concentrate on sila, Dana, the ten recollections, metta bhavana, and if you feel up to it, anapana sati (Samantha variant).
