Re: How to reach the 1st Jhana?
A person lives and develops Wisdom. Wisdom is advanced powerful antivirus system that will stop you from doing anything against that system. Suppose you have over many births developed a Wisdom that I will never steal. Now if you are facing death or any other serious problem unless you steal ......y...

Re: No Wisdom without Jhana?
Dear Friends I have come across the following verses and I have never read before that the Buddha said there is no wisdom for one without Jhana, are there any other Sutta references that confirm this? There’s no jhāna for one without wisdom; No wisdom for one without jhāna. But for one with both jh...

A small ant size bug fell in the west coast of Indian sea from heaven. I have a question. Where is Indian sea? :namaste: A few km.away from my house and we locals call this sea as Indian sea, as this sea surrounds the east, west and south of India. What the world atlas calls this sea, I have to ref...
Re: STORY
yes, the answer came to me. In parable /simlie/ story.....The salt will be eaten away. Bugs will also perish as no salt is available. And then the sea bed will have a lot of salt in the form of mixture or compound .This salt will slowly and slowly go on adding. And one day the sea will become saltis...
Re: STORY
Greetings, If you are suggesting that the bugs are representative of a cosmic buddha, then no, they can't die because they are not born. But, honestly, as intriguing as the Story is, I'm pretty sure I'm not following the simile well at all. :namaste: I am very lonely on the topic of Buddhism. But I...
Re: STORY
My question to all of you is whether the bug can perish in this process? Yes they can. In water ways in Sri Lanka there was a weed called "Japan Jabara" The authorities introduce a bug to eat them. When they ate all the weeds the bug also perished due to lack of food. Having said that you...
STORY
A small ant size bug fell in the west coast of Indian sea from heaven. He/she/it found out that if he eats the salt from the sea water, he grows in strength. So he grew to a certain size and then later he started multiplying. This started creating a small pool of fresh salt-less water in the vast se...

Re: Could a person experience any levels of Dhamma without prior knowledge?
Could a person experience any level of Dhamma understanding (insight knowledges, stream entry, spotless vision of the Dhamma or literally any inkling of Dhamma) without any prior knowledge of the Dhamma? In the Mahayana naturally this is said to happen all the time, up to and including becoming enl...

Re: Exactly WHAT was the Buddha
As per Theravada, Buddha was an intelligent ordinary person like us who put up an effort to become a Buddha. AND ANY ONE CAN BECOME BUDDHA WITH THE SAME EFFORT AND INTELLIGENCE. As per Mahayana, he was the ruler of Gods,Brahmas, stars, galaxis and milkiways. He was like us an ordinary person in some v...

For me full existence is following Buddha. It is not a religion. It is way of life. So the problem does not exist.

Re: Hinayana- Mahayana-Lotus sutra....new meaning
Thanks, Nice supporting article. You are welcome, however it may not be supportive in the way that you think. Later, the article states: In my own view, both paths (or vehicles) — the arahant path and the bodhisattva path — can be seen as valid expressions of the Buddha's teaching. However, they mu...

Re: Hinayana- Mahayana-Lotus sutra....new meaning
]So, what is your point here? Stop knowing history. Stop reading sutras. Stop discussing forums. Develop small vehicle by joining vipassana courses. In other words if we do as you are suggesting here, then should eventually see our way to the Mahayana? Yes. When you have cleared obstacles in your b...

Re: Hinayana- Mahayana-Lotus sutra....new meaning
One can not become a mahayanist by reading and mastering sutras . He must meditate with the SMALL VEHICLE. And then he should seek blessing of a guru/god if link is estabilished.
In that respect small vehicle is MOST IMPORTANT.
