Re: moral dilemma flea control & no more program??

I have been using a generic version of "Program" that sterilizes fleas and effectively gets rid of them in my home. Now the name brand and generic versions are no longer available on Amazon. I found some on e-Bay but not available from US suppliers or mainstream retail. There may be a ver...

Re: metta meditation

Hello all, Try this - it worked for me: Ajahn Brahmavamso teaches loving-kindness meditation https://mettarefuge.wordpress.com/2010/01/08/ajahn-brahmavamso-teaches-loving-kindness/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; With...

Re: metta meditation

But I ask how to practice concentration with metta as a subject. The reason I ask, is that a problem I had two years ago seems to be returning when I do breath meditation; my nose is now getting numb/swollen. I thought I might try a different but similar focal point to help with concentration, perha...

metta meditation

Hello friends! I have practiced contemplating metta by using phrases, but is there a way recommended to concentrate on something more single-pointed for metta, such as repeating just a few words or simply concentrating on the positive feelings, or something visual? For example, I read that the Tibet...

clarifying meditation and adjusting routines

Is walking meditation primarily a tool for developing insight (as opposed to developing samatha)? I am planning on using seated meditation specifically for the development of a foundation of samatha (using mindfulness of breathing), while using walking meditation time with a related but different go...

Re: non-visual sign?

Thank you, for the references :) I am looking for a mobi file version of Visuddhimagga (my conversion from pdf is messy). My next question: Is the skill (and point) of developing a training sign: something we use to help establish a meditative state, which we next connect to a given theme or chosen ...

non-visual sign?

I've been focusing on breath, and Buddho, patiently under the impression that at some point I would see a visual sign. For about two and half years now. I have also tried Ajaan Lee's Method 1 and Method 2 recently. Sometimes I just forget about the sign and just focus on breath, or just observe the ...

Re: e-reader for meditation books

Thank you, for the recommendations!

I am quickly realizing that an e-reader is a great tool to access and read the Dhamma. So much of it is available for downloading. Calibre is helpful, too.

Re: e-reader for meditation books

Oh, too late--yesterday I received a Voyage. But I could use some more tips/suggestions on how to store and manage books from my laptop, before downloading onto the reader (using cloud storage), and some recommended websites for Dhamma books in mobi (and pdf). I agree about e-reader devices being ki...

Except if you are giving kites or yo-yos, of course.
Or wrapping the gifts in brown paper packages.

Re: e-reader for meditation books

Thank you so much for the feedback! My biggest concern is whether I can read the Nikayas on a Voyage and have no problems with formatting and ease of organizing, note taking, vocab building, and other features on the device if I am using pdf or converted files. If no, then maybe I will just keep buy...

e-reader for meditation books

Hi :) I am thinking about getting an e-reader, specifically I might get the Kindle Voyage. It seems like a great device for nonfiction reference books, manuals, etc. But I have no experience with e-readers and the documents that are available for free use, such as meditation manuals available for do...
