Re: Buddhism & Nature
One can catch flies by using a "Clapping" method. Flies always take off by moving to the side, rather than up, as most predators come at them from above. To exploit this, all you need to do is slide both hands to either side of the fly and quickly ring them together, like a clap. If you do...

Re: Jogging
The correct and least impactful way to run is by striking the ground with the ball of the foot, rather than the heel. This minimizes impact on the knee, and instead transfers that force to the calf muscle, which acts much like a spring. However, it takes a while to switch over to this style of runni...

Re: What is the last thing to let go?
It is my understanding that the absolute last thing to be let go is attachment to Dhamma.

Re: Strategies for Cultivation
Hi Prasadachitta! So does this mean that, if I may borrow a phrase from my own practice as an educator, that "To be a reflective practitioner" is the essence of Dhamma cultivation, and that this reflection itself is a form of Meditation? Please don't think that I'm looking to replace more ...

However, I'm wondering if there are other practices and techniques that develop mindfulness and cultivate the E...

Re: Religious Harmony
Granted, I am not nearly as we'll versed in the suttas as others here, but I've recently come across a few that seem to illustrate the Buddha as having a "This Dhamma is the complete Truth, gained through knowledge and insight. Others are mere facets of the greater jewel that is this Dhamma.&qu...

Re: Looking for a Sangha
Thank you all very much for the warm welcome. I'm happy to be here. And thank you for the advice. LonesomeYogurt, I've seen Triple Gem of the North and it looks like quite a nice place. I'll have to check it out. Unfortunately it's about 40 minutes from my house - which would make it difficult to ge...

Looking for a Sangha
Hello. My name is Murkve, and I am a new seeker living just north of Minneapolis. I've always known the basics of Buddhism, and have always been drawn to it, but lately I've begun to appreciate the Dhamma at a much deeper level. This may be because I have witnessed its myriad applications and wisdom...
