I think you could ask around if anything wrong.
If nothing, then you could try metta.

Re: Questions for MN 137
1. Are the 40 subjects will have the same kind of experience of jhanas or they are different? I remember Bhante Thanissaro once said that the standard jhana description in the sutta is just like the restaurant's menu, not recipe, so there are different experiences of jhana? (Maybe I remember wrong) ...

Re: Questions for MN 137
Thanks, Just a few more questions, 1. Is that mean there are different kind of jhana? 1 - Jhana percept only of form (body). 2 - Jhana percept only of form outside (nimita or something) without the body. 3 - Jhana with no percept of forms, just percept of beauty? 2. Out of 4 satipatthana (bases of m...

Questions for MN 137
MN 137 But steered by the Tathāgata—worthy & rightly self-awakened—the person to be tamed fans out in eight directions. “Possessed of form, he/she sees forms. This is the first direction. “Not percipient of form internally, he/she sees forms externally. This is the second direction. “He/she is ...

Could someone explain what is "Contact at the intellect"
Adittapariyaya Sutta: The Fire Sermon The intellect is aflame. Ideas are aflame. Consciousness at the intellect is aflame. Contact at the intellect is aflame. And whatever there is that arises in dependence on contact at the intellect — experienced as pleasure, pain or neither-pleasure-nor-pain — t...

Re: AN 3.10 Mala Sutta. Stains.
Hi all, I have a few questions. 1. What is immoral then? Is it just violate of the Patimokkha/or the 5 Precepts or include the whole bunch of sila restraint of senses, reflect on food, medicine, etc,... ? 2. I understand envy is bad. But why miserly? Surely a person/monk who live a minimalist life c...

Re: Recollect peaceful state of mind as meditation object?
I think upasamanussati should be do just like in Iti 90. It's like metta meditation. You repeat the sentence/word a certain time. Then keep the state of mind as meditation object. This should be a supportive mediation for your main object. From what I understand of your post. You are recollecting on...

How to nurture piti and sukha when meditate?
I think this is a problem many encounter. And I encounter several times in the past. But now I wonder how the heck I overcome it? First is to change posture, to walking meditation. This work on retreat, not now, cause I live in a small apartment. Second is to read sutta/dhamma talk to give rise to c...

Re: Doubting supernatural side of Buddhism
I think you need a step by step approach. But then, believing the paranormal is not a necessary part to practice.
The non-doing of any evil,
the performance of what's skillful,
the cleansing of one's own mind:
this is the teaching of the Awakened.

Re: AN 8.6 Lokadhamma 2. World (2).
How does these 8 lokadhamma fit into 4 frames of references? He does not welcome the arisen gain, or rebel against the arisen loss. He does not welcome the arisen status, or rebel against the arisen disgrace. He does not welcome the arisen praise, or rebel against the arisen censure. He does not wel...

Question: perception vs memory
As I understand, perception is the ability to recognize things, meaning attach definition (emotion, events, thought, etc...) to that thing.
But memory is also attach definition to stuff.
What is the different between perception (in Buddhism) and memory ?

Re: Cynicism, "realistic pessimism"
I used to find myself "a realist". The nature of the world is not "happily ever after" and there are not always "happy ending". But that the way the world is, and that drives people practice. You could used this reference http://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/authors/thani...

Re: Mechanical philosophy and Theravada
@Kim I don't think it's determinism. Because, to know the exact result, you must know all your karma and it's effect (include your present), and since it's simply impossible to know all of that, it's not determinism. And you can always affects the result by your present action. It's a view that see ...
