Re: How can you not fear impermanence and suffering?
 First, let me apologise for posting here...because I do not practice Theravada. I hope, however, that my comments will be taken in the spirit I intend them. My Thai wife has been going through a very stressfull time. Her father, now deceased, had three wives. His first wife, the one she refe...

Re: Science vs buddhism
 Well, since this is the free-for-all forum and you asked for an opinion...here is mine, No, Science will not kill Buddhisim. In fact just the opposite. Superficially, one may see an apparent seperation between so-called Science and Buddhisim. (religion) But if you look carefully at many core...

Re: Snail invasion - any tips and advice appreciated!
 I've never tried it myself, but my late father used to put a ring of Salt around his Tomato plants in our garden, especially when the seedlings were first put out. Granulated Rock Salt will work. He said snails won't crawl over a ring of Salt because it irritaes them to crawl on Salt. Of ...

Re: Drama Wheel
 As a regular reader of BOTH the Dharma Wheel and the Dhamma Wheel Buddhist forums I refuse to make any negative comments here or criticize anyone on this topic In my humble opinion that is not consistant with what I interpret as Right Speech or Right Action. And by the way, I consider mys...

Re: Discovering Theravada forum - changed settings
I understand what you are saying...and I have to accept it....after all it is a Theravada forum. so you have the perfect right to limit those that respond to a topic on that forum.
But my personal opinion is that it is a poor choice...but I have to accept it and go on from there.

Re: World map
:stirthepot: I'm not opposed to it, but such a thing should be an option, not a requirement. There may be some who don't want their location revealed on a mp...and their preference should be respected. :broke: By the way I just haven't selected an avatar yet...that"s why nothing shows now. Ther...

Re: Another earthquake in Christchurch, NZ
:broke: Not all faults release all at once...in one single powerful earthquake which is the folllowed by a series of decreasing aftershocks before a long period of relative quiet. In fact it is just as likely that a fault will release in a series of relatively small earthqukes with a few big ones th...

Saving Water Buffalo
 I psted this on another Buddhist forum...but so far I have no good solid answers. My Thai wife went to a local Wat here in Bangkok on Sunday 15 May 2011. They apparently were accepting donations for a program to buy animals...specifically Water Buffalo..to save them from slaughter for food/...
