I think it is overall irrelevant. If somebody is going to find the dhamma it is because they already have at least some natural inclination toward religion /spirituality.

I consider positive thinking rather important in the path. That said there is a large gap between positive thinking and throwing your better judgement out the window.

Well that packet looks like it is for people on retreat, and as I understand you want to ordain? That makes it difficult to say because they may or may not expect you to follow those rules considering you will be there a week.

1.) of course you can study. A place may put an emphasis on meditation (just like any forest monastery) but the time is yours to do what you want with. 2.) you can talk in a monastery. If course don't waste your time gossiping and such but, yes, everyone can talk unless there is a reason not to. 3.)...

I am writing this as someone who was ordained in Sri Lanka for a short time and is planning to go back, most likely will ordain again. I spent a very short period of time in Thailand after I disrobed which I spend in Wat Pah Nanachat. Also, I am typing this on my phone so please forgive any grammar ...

You can just show up you don't need to mail them. When I went there I just showed up and so did the other visitors.

The point of the first tetrad in my opinion is to calm the mind and build concentration which would be done from watching the breath.

Man...This place makes me tired. Every time a thread lasts more than a couple days it always comes to somebody proclaiming how they are right and they won't hear anybody else's answer because it is obviously illogical and wrong. Every time.
