Re: Those irritating neighbours :)
Another approach: rejoice that this little boy has loving grandparents and the chance to have some fun in the garden. Too many children don't have that. Rejoice that these grandparents have a child in their lives that keeps them busy and loved. Too many older people become lonely. If you can send go...

Re: Does the card game "cheat" break the fourth precept?
Most card games require concealment and subterfuge. Is this lying by omission....? Well, I'm more in the don't overthink camp… there are plenty of great board or card games around that are not built around the concept of cheating and more and more board games also requiring collaboration rather tha...

Re: Does the card game "cheat" break the fourth precept?
Playing games as a family is great - nice for bonding and much better than slumping down in front of the TV. If you don't like playing the current family favourite - why don't you just go an buy a new one or introduce a new game using the same cards. UNO, Rommee or whatever - there are many that are...

Re: Rude People, Frequent Unpleasant Encounters - Kamma?
Much of it might be down to perception and expectations. If you expect people to be unpleasant you are more likely to interpret their response that way. If you expect a certain response and you get a different one, you may take things as personal, directed against you rather than just a neutral resp...

And do you suppose that all those furry and winged fellow denizens of this planet as they hunt and are hunted are also recharging their batteries ? Or is that a luxury afforded only to humans who find it all terribly romantic ...? Luxury? Romantic? As a development aid worker it is a luxury for me ...

The health care you get is your basic human right Sattva. Many of the internationa human rights treaties - including those the US has signed up to - repeat that every human being has the right to the 'highest attainable standard of health'.

Don't underestimate the value (if not the probability) of predictions - Harold Camping et al just won the 2011 igNobel price of mathematics: MATHEMATICS PRIZE: Dorothy Martin of the USA (who predicted the world would end in 1954), Pat Robertson of the USA (who predicted the world would end in 1982),...

Did the Buddha teach mantra meditation? I don´t think so. Why?
