S.N Goenka

Just discovered this on the Burma Dhamma site. In 2000 Sri S. N. Goenka visited Sayadaw Shwe Oo Min.http://burmadhamma.blogspot.com/2013/03/sn-goenka-pays-respects-to-shwe-oo-min.html Why post this? As a fledgling student of Sayadaw Tejaniya this gives me confidence that such an eminent Teacher as G...

Chittagong

Does anybody know what's happening here?
A long time ago I read in a Buddhist newspaper about Muslims burning out Buddhists in this area.I sent a letter to someone.
The desire to know what has happened to these people has lingered.Maybe someone on the board knows about the situation there?

In Myanmar

I read this article in the Guardian: " Buddhist monk uses racism and rumours to spread hatred in Burma Thousands watch YouTube videos of 45-year-old 'Burmese Bin Laden' who preaches against country's Muslim minority" There seem to be parallels with Sinhalese nationalism.

Re: Is there a Dhammayut monastery in Thailand for westerners?

There's a Dhammayut monastery near Udon Thani with an American Bhikku resident there. The Abbot is Ajahn Sangob. The name is Wat Mettakitkun.(I think).

Re: Advice

I don't feel its right being at a centre where they want you to do their technique and not doing it.
As for ladies in bikinis- have you developed siddhis?

Re: Advice

My practice is the full body awareness anapana and metta - so I would prefer a place that is open to different methods.Or uses this method. If I was in the States there are a number of Teachers who teach this style. Or accept students who use different types of anapana. I know that monasteries in th...

Advice

I'm going to Thailand in less than a few weeks.I intend to spend that time at monasteries hopefully doing some sitting.I use a chair for sitting- I am reasonably independent re my sitting practice but it would be good to be able to ask some advice occasionally. i don't want to practice in the Mahasi...

Re: Larry Rosenberg.

Richard Shankman is also open to using full body anapana as is Andrea Fella ( a student of Thanissaro Bhikku). I listened to a talk by Ajahn Sona and he seemed to be saying that his interpretation of the Anapana Sati Sutta was that awareness at the nostrils was the correct technique- to appreciate t...

Re: Larry Rosenberg.

I'm interested in reading or listening to other Teachers who practice this method.
Thanks.
I never realised Ajahn Sucitto taught in this way. I enjoy his talks and humour.

Re: Larry Rosenberg.

I'm interested to learn from your experience and know about other Teachers.
What I find refreshing about Larry Rosenberg is that he doesn't teach a one approach suits all.

Larry Rosenberg.

Has anybody on the board experience with " full body awareness" anapana as taught by Larry Rosenberg? (I believe
he was a student of Ajahn Buddhadasa and other Teachers.) Or similar forms of anapana, not focused exclusively at the nostrils?

Re: Ajahn Buddhadasa

Yes, I would like to get Larry's book.I've read it before some years ago, and before i committed myself to anapana. I find fixing on one spot only, is, somehow too constricting- sometimes too intense, too fixated, too striving. I need to at first relax, to discern the subtleness of the touch, or the...
