Re: OpenDhamma Hot Topic Posts being Reviewed
Sorry Bodom. I am a fighter and I don't like being told to 'keep it clean', implying that I am using dirty tactics or words. We women are sick of this - sick to DEATH of this - and that's why we seem so 'nasty'. We are not nasty - we are just telling it like it is - and I guess you can't take it, he...

Re: OpenDhamma Hot Topic Posts being Reviewed
Yana, please don't apologise, you have done nothing wrong. It's just that when I mentioned that your aversion towards men wasn't totally 'out there' that a crap storm arose. And was not about to back down. Nor were the other gals here. Many (not all but most of 'em) guys don't like it when a woman i...

OpenDhamma Hot Topic Posts being Reviewed
If all responses have to be reviewed and approved (by men) then it's not really an open thread.
More like a gang up on the female posters here who have some guts ... pretty freaking sad.

Re: Not 'man bashing' but legitimate protest.
Men do not like it when they are questioned or when their gender is questioned or put to task. They point the finger back at the women. Men's masculinity is very very fragile, and if they feel that a woman is 'going for their bollocks' they attack. And I see a lot of attacking against women on this ...

Re: Bhikkhu Bodhi Equivocating on Sīla?
Personally, if a person has to really think and equivocate about what is right in terms of sila vis a vis the ever popular Nazi/Jewish scenario (I tried to introduce the Cheka/gulag scenario for a change of pace, but no one got it), then that person really has no moral centre. I said this in Bhante ...

I guess an Arahant wouldn't lie to one of the Cheka either, then.

Re: Bhikkhu Bodhi Equivocating on Sīla?
Retro - gotcha. I will bring it up with Bhante once class starts- it's my understanding, from reading, that there are slight variations in sila between laypersons and renunciants - although there are indeed 'the basics' that apply to all.. although I could be merely mixing up the rules of the viniya...

Re: Pain relief: meditation better than drugs, study finds
Well, meditation is certainly helpful - but having just been through an operation and about to undergo another particularly nasty operation very soon - I will be grateful for the painkillers and muscle relaxers I will be getting. I have also been through years of chronic dental pain (misdiagnoses - ...

Re: Bhikkhu Bodhi Equivocating on Sīla?
Daniel - I"m not so hot at linking here - but if you go to BAUS.org, then Chuang Yen Monastery - follow the link to Bikkhu Bodhi - his classes are definately there and you mahy find his 2010 Eco Buddhism talk there - I helped to promote it and set up the hall, but I can't remember if it was rec...

Re: Bhikkhu Bodhi Equivocating on Sīla?
Well, that link didn't lead to the discussion in question. However, I have taken Bhante's class and this discussion has come up - about how Sila isn't always cut and dried. Believe me, Bhante wouldn't have an issue about lying to Nazi's about hiding Jews. He has also spoken and I wish I knew the lin...

Re: An Apology
I for one will not miss Peter. His posts were routinely nasty and rude - clearly wanting to provoke a fight. Let him go into the tumbrils. And for anyone who will say, that I am being "mean" read some of this person's posts and you'll find that I'm being very very restrained. No holds barr...
